New Year's Resolutions 2012

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is just a few days away, which means Christmas is just a few weeks away, and my 27th birthday is a week and a half away.  This year has flown by!  I used to think that time went by so slowly.  Wait, isn't that a song?  "Time goes by...so slowly (slowly, slowly, slowly), time goes by....so slowly (slowly, slowly, slowly)".  Madonna?

During my school years, I used to tell my dad that my days were going by way too slowly, mostly because I hated school and didn't want to be sitting in a classroom all day.  He told me, "Wait until you get older.  Time will fly by.  I don't even know where the last 20 years went."  Whelp, here I am, flying through time.

I have been going over a few things to try out for my New Year's Resolution. On the top of the list is a gluten-free diet.  Yes, that would mean I would be a gluten-free vegan.  Luckily, I already have the Gluten-Free Vegan cookbook!

Another thing on the list is to read a book a week like I did last year.  I have really cut back on my book reading.  I think I've read like 5-7 books this year, quite a few less than my 52 the previous year.

Maybe I should choose something really difficult.  Obviously my diet and reading have already been conquered, but what about exercise.  As much as I love to trail run in the summer and fall, what do I do in the winter?  Ski!  How about I make a resolution to ski 100 time this year?  I have already been out once, what's another 99 more?  How about running on the treadmill every day of the week?  I'd love to be one of those people that runs 5 miles every day!  The thing that is difficult for me is that I work in the evening and there is no way I'm getting up at 5:30am to run, as much as I wish I had the energy at that hour of the morning.  5:30pm is a better time for me.

Considering the world is supposed to end on Dec. 21, 2012, maybe I should vow to live my life to the absolute fullest through the entire year.

Do you make New Year's Resolutions?  Have you thought about what you'll do for 2012?
