Cleanse: Days 6, 7, & 8

The last few days have been about the same.  However, I did cheat yesterday and had some salt & vinegar potato chips.  They are definitely my weakness.  I also had another glass or two of beer so I could finish up my growler on Saturday. Now that that's out of the way, I can focus on this cleanse.  Though, I do need to go to the grocery store again to pick up a few more veggies to last me this week.

Yesterday I did get some exercise in and walked the dog in shorts and a t-shirt.  It's THAT warm here!  Well, until this morning when it started snowing.

On Saturday I went down to the new City Creek Center in downtown Salt Lake City.  There were tons of people there. I knew it would be crowded, but I was too excited about shopping.  I'll admit I have a shopping addiction.  I bought some new jeans at Express (buy one pair, get the second 50% off) and stopped in a new cute store called Love Culture.  I bought some really cute tops and a white blazer.

The weekend ended with a very productive Sunday.  I slept until about 8:45, then got up, made my juice, did the dishes, walked the dog, cleaned the dog crap out of the backyard, then started going through my closets.  Yes, I have more than one.  It's time to get rid of some clothes.  I got rid of about 8 or more pairs of shoes and quite a few clothes.  It's good to cleanse in more ways than one!

Cleanse: Day 5

Day 5 went really well.  I've figured out how to not feel nauseated in the morning by eating later in the evening.  The smoothies are getting better and better, but the ones that taste the best are the ones with apple or any kind of fruit in them.  The pure veggie smoothies are tough.

I weighed myself this morning and have noticed a change.  I'm down to 3 pounds after just 5 days on this cleanse.  Though, the word "cleanse" doesn't seem to be the case, if you know what I mean.

My ultimate goal weight would be 140.  Maybe if I stick to this 21 day cleanse I might actually see that.  I actually don't mind drinking these green juices in the morning.  I don't feel like I'm hungry at odd times.  I'm hungry for lunch then I'm hungry for dinner.  That's it!  I guess that means my stomach is shrinking?

The only bad part about this cleanse is that it has cost $50 for one week's worth of smoothies.  Now, I was measuring these smoothies like I drink one batch each day, but that's not the case.  The juice I'm drinking today was from yesterday and will last through tomorrow.  I still have quite a few veggies leftover, so I've decided to continue on with the cleanse.  By Wednesday of next week I'm halfway done.  That's not too bad.  Then I might continue drinking these smoothies every once in awhile in the mornings.  They seem to be helping!

My friend, Alicia Silverstone, told me that eating veggies for breakfast is the way to go.  Now I understand why -- because the protein in the leafy greens keeps you fuller longer.  I will allow it!

Cleanse: Day 4

So far so good, though I think I will make Saturday my last day of cleansing.  I'm just not feeling it right now.  It's too much effort that I'm not willing to put in.

Sugar? No
Gluten? No
Alcohol? Yes
Coffee? No
Processed Food? No

A friend of mine brought be back a growler of stout beer from Montana.  When it comes to growlers you have to drink them within a few days of being bottled.  I had a large glass last night and will probably have one the next few nights.  Let's just say that after work yesterday I had a very unpleasant phone call and it put me in a really awful mood.   It also made me think about where I am in my life right now and how I can get out of this funk.

So that's that.

Cleanse: Day 3

Monday evening, I had to work at job #2 so I ate my dinner in the RiteAid parking lot, per uge, around 5pm.  I didn't eat anything for the rest of the night and woke up on Tuesday feeling nauseated.  I thought, that's it!  I'm only doing one week of this cleanse.  I actually had to call in sick for a half day of work because I needed to figure out what I can "eat" without actually eating and only sticking to liquids.

Luckily, my juice for the morning was delicious.  Unlike the Make Juice, Not War Green Juice, this Apple Sprout drink was going down smooth.

To make the Apple Sprout:
1-2 green apples
1 small bunch romaine leaves
1 cucumber
1 cup broccoli
Coconut Water or purified water
1 tablespoon Agave

Even after all of those veggies, the apple makes this juice sweet.  It's quite enjoyable!

Once I got to work at 1pm, I was feeling much better.  I had some mushroom pizzas for lunch, recipe from Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Diet book.  For dinner I had more leftover soup.  I was also sipping on some citrus Kombucha juice, which I now love!  I decided that I needed to eat one more meal when I got home from work, around 9:30pm, so I fried up some red potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and rosemary.

Sugar? No
Gluten? No
Alcohol? No
Coffee? No
Processed Food? No

Again, no physical activity because I had to work late into the evening, but plan on doing Week 6, Day 3 of my Couch to 5K training tonight.  This is going to be tough since it's 20 minutes of straight running.  It's been awhile since I've done that...

Cleanse: Day 2

Sugar? No
Gluten? No
Alcohol? No
Coffee? No
Processed Food? No

I had leftover green juice from the day before (that stuff is rough to get down), so I took it to work in a water bottle and sipped on it throughout the morning.  By lunch time I wasn't completely starving, but I could eat.  I had leftover lentil soup that I made before my cleanse.  I snacked on carrots all afternoon because I could hear my stomach grumbling.

For dinner, I ate leftover tofu scramble with enoki mushrooms (my favorite kind of mushroom!) that I made the day before.  I didn't have any other snacks to have while I was at job #2, but I didn't need them.  I felt full and fine all night, so when I went home, I just went to sleep.

No physical activity on day 2.  Working two jobs really gets to you and there really is no time for exercise until the days I have off.

I woke up this morning not feeling too well.  I'm thinking it's because I went 14 hours without eating anything.    Luckily, today I brought some carrots to snack on if needed.

Cleanse: Day 1

Starting Weight: 155

The book says I should keep a daily journal and discuss how I'm feeling and the overall thoughts of the cleanse. So far so good.

I didn't have any coffee, sugar, gluten, or processed foods. I made my first green juice (smoothie because I don't have a juicer) and could only choke down half. So the other half is being used on day 2.

I'm supposed to do some kind of workout for 30 minutes each day, but since I was slightly hung over from St. Patrick's Day from the previous evening, I decided to just rest.

The day went well. I don't think this will be as difficult as I was thinking. I'm eating regular food for lunch and dinner, but in the morning until noon I can only have liquids, which include green or herbal tea and these green drinks.

Onto day 2!

Crazy Sexy Cleanse

Starting Sunday, March 18, I will be partaking in my first cleanse.  I read about the Crazy Sexy Diet book on one of my favorite blogs, Kiss Me, I'm Vegan!

So I bought it.

This cleanse is a whopping 21 days, which means it will end the day before Easter.  Perfect!  After reading more about it, I don't think it will be as difficult as I was thinking.  However, I do need to cut out coffee, alcohol, sugar, gluten, and all processed foods (which I don't eat a lot of anyway).  Eek!

Basically, I will be waking up to hot water with lemon and a pinch of cayenne pepper, as well as herbal tea.  For breakfast I will be drinking green juice, which I will change to smoothies because I don't have a juicer. For lunch I will have a salad with some delish dressing.  Dinner will be a gluten-free vegan dinner (something I'm already accustomed to), NOT followed by dessert.

There are snack options throughout the day, including raw nuts, fruit, and all the veggies I can handle!

Seems pretty legit, right?

I'm excited to start new and detox for a few weeks.  I haven't read this book cover to cover so I plan on doing that as well.  The author recommends keeping a daily journal, which I plan on doing as well.  Perhaps I will post it here so my thousands of followers can read about my day-to-day struggles.
