Oh Sundance...

2012 Sundance Film Festival.

I always look forward to this time of year, but ever since I tried to get my movie tickets in early January, I've been regretting it.

Surprisingly, things have been going very well.

I'll start with Sunday, January 22.

My mom, a few of her friends, and I all went up to Main Street to walk around and see what was going on.  We started off in this random room where there were a lot of things being given away, including Burt's Bees products.  There was also a bar in the back with a bartender that was mixing free alcoholic beverages made with Patron Tequila...my favorite kind of tequila!

We then ventured over to the Fender Music Lounge where we found another bar with free alcohol, this time serving drinks made with Chopin Vodka.  Since I had the tequila a few minutes earlier, I decided to start drinking brewskis, Stella Artois.

After hanging out for about 20 minutes and listening to this incredible band play, we finally figured out what the name of the band was. 100 Monkeys.  This group of guys is really great.  I've never seen a group change instruments for every song.  Almost everyone in the band can play the guitar, the bass, keyboard, drums, and harmonica.  Pretty impressive!  After even more time, we found out that this band features Jackson Rathbone, Jasper Hale (Cullen) from the Twilight movies.  I knew that guy looked familiar...

We ended the evening at Butcher's, where we enjoyed some food, some beer, and some football.

Now, let's go onto my favorite day, Monday, January 23.

Monday morning started with a 9am movie called Liberal Arts.  I usually go into Sundance movies with a very open mind because you really don't know what to expect.  I've fallen asleep and walked out of movies.  I was lucky to get tickets to this one.  It was my first choice out of the Premiers because it was written, directed, and starred Josh Radnor (Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother).  A week earlier I had watched his film from the 2010 Sundance Film Festival called Happythankyoumoreplease.  He also wrote, directed and starred in it.  The first showing of this movie were sold out, so I thankfully had the option to buy tickets to the second showing.  Usually the cast and crew doesn't go to those, which is unfortunate since the Q&A section is one of the reasons why I even attend Sundance.

I am happy to announce that Liberal Arts is by far the best movie I've ever seen in my 14 years of attending the Sundance Film Festival.  I was so impressed with the script.  The story flowed so well.  Josh Radnor really is an incredible person (and very attractive)!  He was the only one from the cast at that screening, but he was really the only one I was excited to see.  I had been wondering what kind of personality he had.  Is it like Ted Mosby's character, or is he more reserved and only plays the part?  My question was answered.  I was laughing hysterically during the entire Q&A.  He is a very talented, intelligent, hilarious (attractive) person.

Tuesday, January 24

I went to see the film 2 Days in New York.  I knew that after seeing Liberal Arts, any movie would have a hard time living up to my expectations.  It was true.  2 Days in New York was mostly funny, but there were a lot of slow parts that I didn't get into.  Overall, it turned out to be a regular ol' Sundance movie.

I have one more film on Thursday evening, For Ellen.
